Sweet LaLa’s Bakery launched in late 2014 to create employment opportunities for graduates of Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Follow-up (JIFF). JIFF supplies the student workforce for the family-owned commercial bakery. Bakers become eligible once they have graduated from the 16-week core program at JIFF. All students are paid for any time spent in the kitchen, from training, to production to selling offsite. Almost 30 at-risk youth were employed with Sweet LaLa’s Bakery in its first three years. A special thank you to our first guest filmmakers, Lauren Ready and Julie White of Forever Ready Productions, LLC for sharing this especially sweet film with Watch Love Work.
